Stanford scientists consider 3D printing Mars rock samples
Palo Alto, Calif. (UPI) Aug 10, 2016
The combination of remote 3D imaging and 3D printing could one day allow scientists to study faraway rocks, like Martian or lunar formations, by reconstructing them on Earth. "You could use 3D printed digital rock models to help screen and select the most scientifically interesting samples to return to Earth for research," Tiziana Vanorio, an assistant professor of geophysics at Stanford, said in a news release.
